Do not be ashamed to use coupons! There is nothing wrong with saving a few bucks here and there. I am reminded of a visit I made to Kroger with a friend of mine. Before we left, I went through a stack of coupons I had saved and selected the ones I thought would be useful on that particular trip to the grocery store. My friend looked at me like I had two heads. "What are you doing?" he said with a puzzled look. "I'm saving money," I replied. I received the ever so common eye roll reaction.
In addition to coupons, I also have the Kroger app downloaded on my phone which offers other savings and digital coupons. When all was said and done, I saved almost $30. The reaction I received from my friend was priceless. "Maybe I should start using coupons too," he said with a shameful grin, admitting I was right without saying it.
I'll never understand why gay men frown upon saving money when possible. It doesn't make us look cheap, it makes us look smart. That savings, in this case $30, can be used for a variety of other things: dining out, a cheap concert ticket, or put it into an investment account for the future.
Almost every grocery store has their own app. Download it to your phone and USE IT! You'll be surprised how much money you can save. On average, I save about $15 per grocery trip. Multiply that by let's say 45 weeks (I do travel a lot) and that's a grand total of $675 per year. That's enough to pay for your next vacation...the one your friends can't afford to go on. They won't be making fun of you when you are lying on the beach sipping a piña colada and they are typing away in their cubicle.
